Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Lèze Valley, the Cabin-Boat lodge is a unique lodging experience designed to resemble a transformed sailboat. Blending maritime dreams with a Pyrenean setting, it combines luxury comfort, unique architecture, and a complete change of scenery.
Commissioned by a farming couple looking to diversify their business into high-end agritourism, the Cabin-Boat is situated in a prime location on the edge of a forest, with unobstructed views of the Pyrenees. Touched and inspired by a seascape hanging on the wall of my clients’ home, the idea of a “sailboat” came to me as the theme for the project.
The goal was to offer visitors an immersive, dreamlike experience: sleeping in a shell, blending the comfort of a cocoon with the thrill of a sea adventure. The marine architecture, set against the backdrop of rolling farmland and mountains, was intended to serve as a marketing draw in itself, further sparking the public’s interest. The result was a guaranteed change of scenery, complemented by the comfort of luxury amenities (spa, high-end bedding, and carefully prepared breakfasts served on-site).
The cabin echoes the lines of a stylized boat: sloping walls and edges, a tilted bow, a terrace opening onto the landscape, and a raised structure on stilts to suggest a sense of floating. Large floor-to-ceiling windows frame the view of the Pyrenees mountain range, while the roof resembles a large, taut sail, extending the building’s momentum and reinforcing its dynamic and poetic character.
More than just an accommodation, the Cabin-Boat is an invitation to embark on an imaginary journey. Nestled between land and sea, it resembles a “stranded ark” ready to set sail once again, carrying its guests on a dreamlike escape from life’s routine.

"I highly recommend Alexandre Drabzak, who worked with us on the design of our agritourism project. He conceived and drew up the plans for our lodge with ingenuity, realism, and creativity. He was instrumental in finding craftsmen and was a great help with the administrative side of things. Attentive to the client’s needs, reliable, creative, inventive, conscientious, and responsive, he also has practical, on-the-ground knowledge."
