The Ariège departmental golf course, located in Unjat, opted to make a radical change in its management of the grounds to become an “ecogolf”. On this occasion, I was consulted to create a set of signage that had to meet both a sustainable development objective and the creation of a new design identity befitting the prestige of a nationally recognized golf course.
The Ariège Departmental Ecogolf has committed to an eco-friendly approach aimed at eliminating polluting inputs and adopting a differentiated management strategy for green spaces. As part of this initiative, the management team sought to update all signage and incorporate an educational trail focused on the surrounding natural areas. The project had to meet both the requirements of the new ecological policy and those of a prestigious site.
The objective was to design elegant signage that embodies ecology through design. I created modern lines in contrast with the natural environment to enhance it. The idea was also to combine materials, each carrying its own values, in order to create a balanced harmony integrated into the landscape.
The design combines metal and wood, with discreet laser cut-outs, colour contrasts, and original forms. The range of signage, entirely designed for this project, exceeds expectations in terms of design while respecting ecological principles.
The signage does more than guide visitors; it becomes a symbol of the site’s ecological approach and its respect for the natural environment, while fulfilling its primary functions and offering a unique aesthetic experience.
