The Pilgrim

Erected in the heart of the Comminges région for the L’Homme Sauvage Festival, The Pilgrim is a monumental sculpture, 5.30 meters tall, crafted from recycled materials (wood, metal, and fabric). It embodies the female wayfarer – fragile yet powerful – as a symbol of connection to nature and a bond between people.

Context

Created for the L’Homme Sauvage Festival in 2022, the work is set within a powerful natural and symbolic context, engaging with the landscape, the festival’s theme, and its audience from around the world: reconnecting with the essence of life and the spirit of our origins.

Intention

The Pilgrim evokes the journey, inner drive, and openness to something greater than oneself. Traversing the world with her long strides, she represents the fundamental bond of love between every individual, every people, every nation. Her slender, almost totemic silhouette embodies the initiatory walk, the relationship with nature as a guide, and the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Realization

Recycled materials (wood and metal structure, fabric covering). Its monumental size (5.30 m) makes it visible from afar — a landmark and a strong symbolic presence.

Symbolic Dimension

More than just a work of art, The Pilgrim is an experience: a guiding figure that invites everyone to slow down, to rise above, to reconnect with a more essential way of being, and to open themselves up to others.
