The Ariège departmental golf course, located in Unjat, chose to make a radical change in its management of the grounds to become an “ecogolf”. On this occasion, I was consulted to create a set of wayfinding and signage furniture that had to meet both a sustainable development objective and the creation of a new design identity matching the standards of a golf course recognised at national level.
The Ariège Departmental Ecogolf has embarked on an ecological approach, aiming to eliminate polluting inputs and adopt differentiated management of green spaces. Within this framework, the management team wished to renew all signage and integrate an educational trail on the theme of the surrounding natural areas. The project had to meet both the requirements of the new ecological policy and those of a prestigious site.
The objective was to design elegant signage that embodies ecology through design. I created modern lines in contrast with the natural environment to enhance it. The idea was also to combine materials, each carrying its own values, in order to create a balanced harmony integrated into the landscape.
The design combines metal and wood, with discreet laser cut-outs, colour contrasts, and original forms. The range of signage and comfort furniture, entirely designed for this project, exceeds expectations in terms of design while respecting ecological principles.
The signage does more than guide visitors; it becomes a symbol of the site’s ecological approach and its respect for the natural environment, while fulfilling its primary functions and offering a unique aesthetic experience.
